Frequently Asked Questions
FAQ
When you experience dental pain, it can be a sign of a growing cavity or deep infection. If left untreated tooth decay can spread into the center of the tooth, infecting the pulp and causing the nerves to become inflamed.
This can occur from a cavity or some type of trauma to the tooth. If this type of toothache goes away, it’s typically because the nerve of the tooth has “died” or been destroyed by the infection, which is why the pain goes away. But the infection is still there and can lead to serious problems if it isn’t treated.
Strong pain does not always mean that the patient needs a root canal treatment. In some cases, the tooth which requires the surgery, may not even hurt. When pain is present, however, this can indicate a necessity for a root canal.
